A new era of flight has arrived, and Virgin is leading the way.
Introducing Virgin Supersonic - a new company of the Virgin Group, devoted to the development of an advanced, high-speed supersonic aircraft for the 21st century. This is Virgin's underground project and highly classified information on this has now been leaked through internal sources within the Virgin Group. Information on this is only through word of mouth at present, however it is expected that Virgin will officially unveil their ambitious new supersonic project some time in the fourth quarter of 2011. In the meantime, I can reveal to you the following information:
Shortly after the highly ambitious and exciting "Virgin Galactic" project was unveiled, the Virgin Group felt they should continue to push the boundaries of innovation and start planning for work on a new project that would move the aviation industry forward - with the devolopment of a supersonic passenger jet airplane that will revolutionize commercial flight.
Virgin is planning to develop a fuel-efficient, quiet supersonic aircraft in the 200-250-seat segment that will reach speeds of up to Mach 2, with Virgin Atlantic airways being the launch airline. It is rumoured that Virgin Group owner Sir Richard Branson may have came up with this idea shortly after he failed to secure a purchase of the ill-fated Concorde from British Airways. This new aircraft will ultimately be Concorde's successor.
Virgin Supersonic is supposedly looking at designs for a Concorde-style plane with a low sonic signature, over 60 times quieter than Concorde. Virgin aims to have the new plane in service before 2020.
More updates will follow as soon as more information is available.
